Cricket: Middlesex County League - Premier Division - Hampstead 285-6 Ealing 289-6

HIGH-SCORING Hampstead were unlucky not to take something from their testing game against league leaders Ealing on Saturday.

Deciding to bat first, Hampstead made a bright start with openers Brandon Buckley and Robert Tidey combining to score more than 80 runs before the loss of the first wicket.

Tidey eventually went for 33 runs after being caught and bowled by Chris Peploe, while Buckley scored 51 off 78 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, before being bowled by Leigh Perry.

Imraan Mohammed and Mubasher Hassan formed another formidable partnership to continue the electrifying run-rate. Mohammed went on to top score for Hampstead with 84 off 117 balls, while Hassan was trapped lbw by Peploe three runs short of his half-century. Matt Kabir Floyd also hit a well-crafted 31 as Hampstead scored a healthy 285-6 off 66 overs.

Hampstead made the perfect start in the field when Zac Khan dismissed Simon Hawk with his first ball. But Ealing showed just why they’re 14 points clear at the top of the table as they battled back to secure a four-wicket victory.

Huw Jones and Oliver Wilkin scored 56 and 53 runs respectively, while Ned Eckersley, Patrick Fallis and David Holt all got within touching distance of half-centuries as Ealing reached a winning score of 289-6 off 52.1 overs.
